New EMC Directive (2004/108/EC)Affects Manufacturers Across the Globe
If your electronic product is used in any of the 35 member countries of the European Union, or you apply for the CE Mark, there are new regulations that affect you. The current EMC Directive, 89/336/EEC is being repealed and replaced by Directive 2004/108/EEC. As of July 20, 2007, all organizations that resell, develop or manufacture electronic devices used in Europe must comply with the new directive from the European Commission or face potential sanctions and product withdrawals (with some exceptions grandfathering products already compliant to 89/336/EEC until July 20, 2009).
