ECOmpliance

We at ACS believe that the solution to pollution and greenhouse gas emissions is through technology innovation.  We want to support these efforts as much as possible.   In honor of Earth Day 2007, ACS has announced the “ECOmpliance” initiative.  This initiative consists of three elements. 

1. ECOmpliance Discount Program
2. ENERGY STAR
3. California Appliance Efficiency Regulations

ECOmpliance Discount Program

• ACS has established a program specifically to assist those innovators who are developing products that will have an environmental impact.
• ACS is offering a 25% discount on compliance testing for products whose primary purpose is specifically intended to have a positive impact on the environment.
• Products must be of a type that is in the scope of capability for ACS.
• ACS reserves the right to determine the eligibility of a particular product for the program.
• Discount only applies to ACS content, any subcontracted testing does not qualify

ENERGY STAR

The U.S. EPA Energy Star program is a voluntary program that many industry leaders participate in. ACS can perform testing to many Energy Star standards, including computers, power supplies, consumer audio-video equipment, games consoles, and other appliances. The ACS test report is used by manufacturers to document compliance of their products to Energy Star requirements.

The ENERGY STAR specification for computers, game consoles, and other hardware was revised late last year and the new Version 4.0 standard is effective starting July 20, 2007. The new standard includes the new 80 PLUS®  requirements. The 80 PLUS® performance specification requires power supplies in computers and servers to be 80% or greater energy efficient at 20%, 50% and 100% of rated load with a true power factor of 0.9 or greater. This makes an 80 PLUS® certified power supply substantially more efficient than current power supplies and creates a unique market differentiation opportunity for power supply and computer manufacturers. ACS is ready now to perform testing to the new standard.

California Appliance Efficiency Regulations

ACS is an accredited Third Party Testing Laboratory for the new California Appliance Efficiency Regulations, which allows ACS to help electronics manufacturers comply with the new mandatory California Appliance Efficiency regulations.  ACS can test power supplies and consumer audio-video equipment and file the results with the California Energy Commission to comply with the mandatory California laws.
